Nigerian man reported killed fighting for Russia in Ukraine

  Reports have emerged that a Nigerian national was killed while fighting on the battlefield for Russian forces against Ukraine. The news was confirmed on Monday by journalist Jaafar Jaafar and security analyst Zagazola Makama. Makama, in a post, described the incident as tragic, noting that the man had left his family in Northern Nigeria to enlist with the Russian army. “Sad. Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has vowed that he and his party will fiercely protect the people’s mandate and resist any form of electoral manipulation.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting at the PDP state secretariat in Lafia, Ombugadu decried what he described as widespread electoral and judicial injustices during the 2023 governorship election, where he emerged as runner-up.

The state is bleeding from electoral injustices. Our people have lost confidence in the electoral process,” he lamented.

He accused unnamed individuals of infiltrating the state on election day with the intention of manipulating the outcome of the polls.

“We watched people come into Nasarawa State just to engineer electoral fraud under different guises. But enough is enough,” he said. “We don’t have another state to run to. Come 2027, we will ensure that the people’s victory is not tampered with. Any plot to rig will be firmly resisted. Only the authentic results will be accepted.”

Ombugadu warned that the PDP would no longer tolerate any interference aimed at subverting the will of the people.

“2027 will be a different game. We will not sit idly by and watch invaders rig our elections under any pretext,” he emphasized.

He also denounced attempts to divide the state along religious lines, stating, “In my family, we have Muslims, Christians, and traditionalists. There is no room for religious sentiment. My projects cut across all communities, and they serve every resident, regardless of belief or party affiliation. That is my vision and mission.”

Ombugadu urged PDP members and supporters across the state to remain resolute despite what he termed “electoral robbery” in 2023, assuring them that justice would prevail.

He thanked his supporters both within and outside the state and the country, encouraging them to stay strong.
